چکیده
Abstract Reaching climate goals depends on appropriate and accurate methods to quantify greenhouse gas (GHG) fluxes verify that efforts mitigate GHG emissions are effective. We here highlight critical advantages, limitations, needs regarding flux measurement methods, identified from an analysis of >13 500 scientific publications three long-lived GHGs, carbon dioxide (CO 2 ), methane (CH 4 nitrous oxide (N O). While existing well-suited for assessing atmospheric changes local fluxes, they expensive have limited accessibility. Further, we typically forced choose between very sources sinks their regulation (m -scaled measurements), or aggregated net at >ha km scales measurements. متن کاملHydrological Dynamics are Critical to Greenhouse Gas Cycling
Greenhouse gas cycling is an important component of earth system models that are used to project our future climate. Major physical, chemical and biological processes and controls of greenhouse gas cycling are often incorporated into biogeochemistry models of these gases. In particular, the hydrological cycle has long been linked to these models. However, more adequate hydrological models are s...
متن کاملGreenhouse gas fluxes in southeastern U.S. coastal plain wetlands under contrasting land uses.
Whether through sea level rise or wetland restoration, agricultural soils in coastal areas will be inundated at increasing rates, renewing connections to sensitive surface waters and raising critical questions about environmental trade-offs. Wetland restoration is often implemented in agricultural catchments to improve water quality through nutrient removal. Yet flooding of soils can also incre...
